The emergency department facility charge does not include the physician’s charges, diagnostic testing, laboratory, radiology, supplies and drugs. These are billed separately from other service providers. There are two types of charges incurred in the emergency department a facility fee and a professional fee. These fees are independent of each other, although the charges maybe for services that are interdependently provided.
